God is like Coke…He’s the real thing

God is like General Electric…He lights your path

God is like Bayor Asprin…He works wonders

God is like Hallmark Cards…He cares enough to send the very best

God is like Tide…He gets the stains out that others leave behind

God is like VO5 Hairspray…He holds through all kinds of weather

God is like Dial Soap…Aren’t you glad you know Him? Don’t you wish everyone did?

God is like Sears…He has everything

God is like Alka Seltzer…Try him, and you’ll like Him

God is like Scotch Tape…You can’t see Him, but you know he’s there

God is like American Express Card…don’t leave without Him!

I remember it like it was yesterday.
I was alone and scared. 

Time went on. 
I heard the heartbeat. 
I was no longer alone and scared. 

 It’s a girl they said. 
I remember it like it was yesterday. 
So much to buy – so little time. 

 Time went on. 

Then IT happened. 
I remember it like it was yesterday. 
I saw a flash, but it was too late. 
Lights and sirens, people running around. 
Just sit there, they said. 

My baby, my baby – it’s all I could say. 

Time went on.

The other driver, you see, was drunk.  
 

 Time went on. 

Macaliah Brooke - that’s her name.
She left this earth before even being born. 
She never cried, laughed, or smiled. 
I don’t even have a picture.
I held her, wrapped in a pink blanket, but she was gone. 

Time went on. 

10 yrs he will get.  It’s not enough, I said. 

Time went on. 

His time is up, he is free.  It’s not fair I said. 
I am glad this is all over, he said. Not for me, I said.  

Time has gone on.
But still…it hurts – because you see, I remember it like it was yesterday.

IF YOU DRINK ~ DO NOT DRIVE

(this is the info used in court rearranged in my words – I added this for if someone reads this hopefully they will know this is not a made up poem – it is real. I (along w too many others) volunteer for MADD and share our story. It is what happened to me, and worse what happened to my daughter)

*The man that hit us was 19. He had been at a memorial day party, with friends, on his way, to another party. He along with his 3 passengers were all drunk, all under 21, and not wearing seatbelts. He was traveling 70 in a 35 mph zone. His bac was 3x the legal limit. The front end of my car was smashed so far in, I was shoved to the back. I did 2 360′s and hit a telephone pole.  It took them 45 min to get me out, using the jaws of life taking off the door and roof.  In November 1997,  he got 10 yrs, for vehicular manslaugter (to her), vehichular bodily damage (to me), driving under the influence, drinking under the age, No seatbelt. 1st offenses do not usually go on your record, unless you get a good lawyer. I made sure his did. He was released Nov 10, 2007. To this day, he has shown no remorse, for what he has done. I have permanant knee and back damage. The scar has faded, but I had over 200 stiches in my face. I have no side vision, as a result. Worse than all the injuries I had -  all I have left of her, is to visit to a tree, where here ashes are. She was killed instantly. I hope to soon get a memorial stone. They are not cheap.  Not a day goes by, that I do not think of her. Time will never completely heal my heart – ever.

Life I have learned  needs to be taken not week by week, day by day, or even hour by hour…but layer by layer!!  God never said life would be easy.  I am learning that, for sure.  However, you never know what a kind word, a smile, a phone call, a hug or even an I love you,  will do to change, or even SAVE  a person’s life.  Life is a gift – why - yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come – that’s why we call it the present

A Friend Is…

The sun during the rain

A phone call just to say I understand

A trip to Walmart to get away from the kids

A swim, on a tube, down the river on a hot summer day

A phone call, or visit, when your stuck in bed

An “im proud of you” when you turn your life over to Jesus

A smile of Joy when news of a baby is on the way

A hand to hold when you have to say good bye to that JOY

A just because it’s good to see ya hug

An ear to listen when ya just can’t take it anymore

A weekend of Christ, girlfriends, junk food, tears and laughter

When nothing else can be said “breath” ” I love you” and “I’m here”  mean more than the world
